Kino Tutorial: Exporting for YouTube

Back

This is a response to janiecarrasco and any one else wanting to know how to export Kino projects for YouTube. I hope it helps! The last tutorial, I kept things in DV format (AVI) for Cinelerra, but if Kino is the end of the road for you (or if you want to use it to import and convert), these options should get you something that will play very nicely with YouTube. Also, here's a script to convert existing video files into a DVD MPEG format which you can also upload. Just open up a terminal, go to the directory with the video, and run the following (you will need mencoder). Keep in mind to set the aspect ratio to 4:3 if you aren't using 16:9 as in my example: mencoder -oac lavc -ovc lavc -of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd -vf scale=720:480,harddup -srate 48000 -af lavcresample=48000 -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:vrc_buf_size=1835:vrc_maxrate=9800:vbitrate=5000:keyint=18:aspect=16/9:acodec=ac3:abitrate=192 -ofps 30000/1001 -o new_video.mpg old_video.whatever
